About

About this blog:

This blog is a place for recommended books, preferably those in the Library of Temple Israel of Westport, CT,

as well lists of recommended books and websites for holidays, life cycle events, and various other topics of Jewish interest.

About the Library of Temple Israel of Westport, CT:

The library is a inviting space to search for a book or just sit comfortably and read a magazine or study. Its online catalog makes it easy to find a specific title or just have fun virtually browsing the stacks.

Books are cataloged online using Surpass Safari and can be searched for in a variety of ways, including shelf listings.

Books may be borrowed by signing them out in the open loose-leaf binder and putting the card from the book into the plastic box; both the box and binder are on the bookcase to your immediate right when entering the library.

The library is open whenever the building is. Light switches are on the right when entering.

About me:

Hello. I’m Rose Myers, Temple Israel ‘s new librarian!

Although my hours are very flexible, I plan to be at Temple Israel most Monday afternoons. I am available almost anytime on Mondays and Wednesdays. Email me at rmyers@tiwestport.org or just add a comment here to arrange a meeting, ask a question or just talk.

My interests include Jewish text study, folklore, children’s picture books, and watching ballet, old movies, and Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. My MLS from SCSU included a study of Elijah characters in Jewish and secular literature, a website looking at folktale themes in Jewish children’s literature, and an annotated Holocaust bibliography of children’s books using objects or fantasy.

I’m looking forward to sharing my love of Jewish books with you.
